Missions
Cornerstone Christian Church is involved
in fulfilling the great commission worldwide. Apostle Dell
Young puts emphasis on the importance of the body of Christ
being actively involved in missions not only overseas, but
also here in the America. Over the past decade Cornerstone
has sown hundreds of thousands of dollars along with ministry
resources into various ministries and para-church organizations
throughout the world. Following are several missionaries
and missions organizations that Cornerstone supports on a
regular basis:
ZONA MAYA, MEXICO
Pastor Alfredo Perera Pech
Cornerstone has joined forces with Pastor Alfredo Perera Pech to spread the
Gospel to the people of the Zona Maya. Thousands in this region have yet to
hear the Good News, and Pastor Alfredo has dedicated his life to fulfilling
the purposes of God in Mexico.
Cornerstone supports Pastor Alfredo on
a monthly basis. Five teams from Cornerstone have visited
the Zona Maya. Over the years they have worked on building
projects, conducted vacation bible school, presented skits,
performed karate demonstrations, and led praise and worship.
The teams have also shown The Jesus Film and Raised from
the Dead, two powerful videos that opened the door for many
salvations to take place.
Our most recent trip was dedicated to pouring
a concrete roof at Pastor Alfredo's church in Felipe Carrillo
Puerto.
Joined by New Covenant Church in Tifton,
Georgia, the Cornerstone team also ministered in villages, sharing the love
of God to the Mexican people. AUTAUGAVILLE, ALABAMA
Canaan Land Ministries
Mac Gober founded Canaan Land Ministries in in 1981 for men battling with drug
and alcohol abuse. Canaan Land is training men in the Word of God and is truly
changing their lives for the better. A non-profit, non-denominational Christian
home, Canaan Land is funded completely by donations. Cornerstone has been supporting
Mac Gober and Canaan Land Ministries since 1995.
MARIA MINDEVA
Cornett Ministries
Cornerstone Christian Church also supports Maria Mindeva, a missionary in Dobritch
Bugaria. Maria was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in an atheistic, communist home.
Her father was a colonel in the Bulgarian army and ruled the house like a
military camp. As the communist government was falling she felt as if the
foundation of her whole life was crumbling as well, and she experienced deep
depression. Being the secretary of the communist party in her region, she
was devastated and felt that her whole life had been lived as a lie. Then
in 1989 she was in an underground church service for the first time and heard
a simple gospel message of God's love. Maria accepted the Lord as her Savior
and then met Tim and Betty Cornett who began to mentor and disciple her.
Holding a master's degree in history and serving as a teacher in the local
high school, Maria was the perfect choice to oversee the Bible college that
Tim and Betty envisioned.
After studying in the USA and receiving
a doctorate degree in theology, Maria returned to her homeland
to be the
Director of Open Bible Fellowship Bible
College. The college has already had three graduating classes complete the
three-year program.
In 2001, Cornett Ministries purchased a
complex with two buildings for the Bible college, ministry
center, and church. They have also purchased four vans and
a car for the evangelization of the nearby villages. The
ministry has already organized over 30 churches with some
of the graduating students serving as pastors and teachers.
A home church was begun in 2000, and Maria accepted the position
of senior pastor. The church currently has over 250 members.
In 2002, Maria was appointed as overseer of all the missions
work.
Maria is a woman of prayer, faith, and
power, having studied the Bible diligently for the past 13
years. She is noted by all who know her as a vessel of honor
to be used in these last days to declare the glory of God
and to prepare people for the return of Jesus Christ. Cornerstone
is privileged to underwrite Maria’s monthly salary
as she labors for the Kingdom of God in Bulgaria. Cornerstone
has also given thousands of dollars in additional offerings
to specific ministry projects in Bulgaria.
Lizapa, Honduras
Keith Daniels Family
Keith, Joanna, and Tanner Daniels are missionaries in Lizapa, Honduras. They work with Westside Ministries which is based in Ashburn, Georgia. The ministry currently owns a farm which is being used to serve short term mission teams and a pastor training center. They are in the process of constructing a hospital as well as a commercial kitchen/dining hall, new housing for teams, and in the future an orphanage. The Daniels family is involved in the day to day activities related to construction and short term missions. The short term mission teams work in the areas of medical/dental services, giving shoes, eyeglasses, food, bibles, haircuts and most importantly bringing the gospel to the people of Honduras. During this time, the Daniels family is working in many different areas; however, in the future they feel that their work will be primarily with the orphanage. They have a desire to build up a generation of well educated Christians who will change Honduras for the Lord.
Keith and Joanna are from the Adel area. They also have two other sons and a daughter-in-law, Derieck and Jennifer Daniels and Trevor Daniels who live in South Georgia.
