Cornerstone Christian Academy Becomes Community Christian Academy

SPARKS – Dell Young, Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Christian Church and Superintendent of Cornerstone Christian Academy announced this week that Cornerstone Christian Academy will cease functioning as a church owned and operated Christian School and will become a community owned and a community operated Christian School.  The announcement was made by superintendent Dell Young along with the CCA school board in a recent PTO meeting called to inform the parents and answer concerns they might have with this upcoming change.

We are excited that many people have come forward to see that a Christian school continues.  We began Cornerstone Christian Academy in August 2001.  In the past six years, Cornerstone Church has funded this school by giving over one-million dollars toward the continued operation of the school.  The tuition fees have never come close to covering the cost of operation of CCA. Cornerstone Church has viewed this as a missions endeavor and has continued to support the school since it’s inception.  We strongly believe that this area needs a Christian school and that it is God’s desire to see a community owned and supported Christian school.

The new school will be called Community Christian Academy.  The board of education members for the new school are: Tim Fuller, Dr. Mike McCartney, Junior Dees, Constance Thomas, and Teresa Moore.  Community Christian Academy will meet 2007-2008 on the campus of Cornerstone Academy and will be moving to a new location the following school year.  Pastor Young noted that due to the soon approaching I-75 reconstruction of the exit 41 overpass in Sparks much of the school’s ten acre campus is being acquired by the State.  The interstate project has also been a factor in our decision to cease future operation of Cornerstone Academy.  Although there will be a land acquisition of the Cornerstone’s school property for I-75 widening project at some point; this will not affect the use of the campus for the new school.

Pastor Young also stated that Cornerstone Christian Church has agreed to financially support the startup of the Community Christian Academy by contributing eight-thousand dollars a month for their first year.  It is my prayer that Christians throughout this county and area will support this new community owned and community operated Christian school.

Cornerstone Celebrates its 15th Anniversary and Apostle Young’s 20 Years in the Ministry

Cornerstone celebrated its 15th anniversary Sunday, March 12 at 10:00 a.m. Cornerstone began on Sunday, March 10, 1991 in the back of an old blue metal building on a few acres of land with twenty-six people in attendance. The property had been vacant for several years when Apostle Dell purchased it as the site for the new church.

Fifteen years later, God has done great things and has proven himself faithful. Cornerstone is now the largest and fastest growing church in Cook County with an active membership of over 300 and an average Sunday attendance of 400. Nearly twenty separate ministries make up Cornerstone. Some of these ministries include an international missions ministry, a Christian school, and a vast media ministry.

This March also marks Apostle Young’s 20th year of preaching the gospel. Apostle Young began as an evangelist in the Church of God in March of 1986. He served faithfully for six years before being led to leave the denominational church and begin Cornerstone Christian Church. He has been faithful to the call of God, and he continues to see more and more of God's vision fulfilled. In twenty years he has seen countless lives changed. Cornerstone is truly blessed to have him as its pastor and visionary.

The anniversary service featured a special video presentation portraying the history and accomplishments of Cornerstone’s fifteen years of ministry. It also stated the vision for future expansion and growth. The past fifteen years have been awesome, but we know the best is yet to come!

This anniversary video can be seen on StreamingFaith.com through use of the video on demand feature on our website. If you would like to purchase your own copy on DVD, simply call our ministry office at 1.866.4.KINGDOM or order from our online store at www.cornerstoneministry.com.

Cornerstone Acquires New Property

Cook County’s fastest growing church has just made a major real estate acquisition that will allow the ministry to climb to new heights and reach more people for the Kingdom of God. With one of the largest active church memberships in the county and the growing population and economy, this acquisition could not have come at a greater time. For five years Apostle Dell Young has made offers to purchase an adjoining piece of property needed to fulfill the vision for Cornerstone Christian Church. The current ministry campus has simply not been large enough to allow the ministry to expand to its full potential.

The current ministry campus consists of 4 acres and includes a 4,000 square foot youth ministry building and a 10,000 square foot Family Life Center that is currently being used as a multi-purpose facility. All church services are held in the Family Life Center, which also houses all of the ministry's administrative offices. The new property adjoins the current campus and encompasses approximately 150 acres.

Cornerstone is now making extensive plans for the new property. Some of the plans include a housing development, businesses, and a new ministry complex that will contain approximately 50,000 square feet of space. The ministry complex will include a 1,000+ seat cathedral, state-of-the-art media production wing, café, bookstore, administrative office space and much more. This complex will provide more seating for regular church attenders as well as allow Cornerstone to host larger and more frequent special events such as major Christian conferences and concerts.

Apostle Young’s desire for Cornerstone and every church is that they become what is needed and missing in the community. He believes that the church should be much more than just the spiritual catalyst for the city--he believes that the community should flourish socially, economically, and in every way due to the presence of the Christian church in the community. When asked what is the greatest advantage that this new land acquisition will give the church, Apostle Young stated, “I believe and have taught our members that if the doors to our church were to close tomorrow, the city should weep because of the lack that it would create in the community. We are not saying that Cornerstone is there yet, but we are pressing forward with the vision and believe that Cornerstone will have that type of impact on the community in the near future.”

Cornerstone is a powerhouse ministry that has something for people of every walk of life. Cornerstone has a bright future and continues to grow and expand as the massive vision God has placed inside Apostle Young continues to come to fruition. Services are held each Sunday morning at 10:00 and each Wednesday evening at 7:00 at 403 Cleveland Street in Sparks. Cornerstone Connection on StreamingFaith.com

Streaming Faith, LLC, began in 2001 with a vision of providing ministries with state of the art technology, thus, empowering them to share their message with a worldwide audience. Apostle Young and Cornerstone Ministries joined the Streaming Faith family in January of this year hoping to reach more souls worldwide with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Streaming Faith (www.StreamingFaith.com) is the world's largest provider of Internet broadcast services to faith-based organizations and is the most heavily viewed online faith-based video portal. At StreamingFaith.com, millions of people around the world can connect with various ministries. The site includes more than twenty 24-hour broadband TV stations, fifteen radio stations, and over 1,500 live events per month. Streaming Faith serves some of the most influential ministries in the United States and abroad. Some of the ministries included are: Bishop Eddie L. Long, Pastor Jamal H. Bryant, Dr. Mark Chironna, Dr. Creflo Dollar, Dr. Myles Munroe, The God Channel, and, of course, our very own Apostle Dell Young.

Since Cornerstone Connection launched with Streaming Faith in January, the ministry has seen a great worldwide response. Justin Young, Executive Pastor, stated, “Our offices have been receiving more positive feedback than ever before, and Apostle Young has received invitations from all over the world. We are very pleased with the results from our joining Streaming Faith. We have literally had thousands of people from all over the world watching Cornerstone Connection.”

Cornerstone Connection now has six messages archived on Streaming Faith, and more will be added very soon. A total of twelve Cornerstone Connection programs will eventually be archived, and they will be rotated on a regular basis in an effort to keep fresh messages available. This is a great tool that enables members to access messages from Apostle Young at any time. Whether serving overseas in the military or simply working out of town on business, Cornerstone members can always be in church. Pastor Justin says that future plans also include airing live services via Streaming Faith.

Cornerstone Connection can be viewed directly from the Streaming Faith website or can be viewed from the "Video On Demand" link on our ministry website at www.cornerstoneministry.com.

Cornerstone Launches New Website

Cornerstone Ministries launched a brand new website this past January with many new features and a bold new look! Construction on the new site began in February of 2005 and was completed the following December. The site features many new resources including online giving, an e-commerce store, and an intranet for church members.

Pastor Justin Young served as overseer for the project as many ideas and creative concepts were explored by an outside board of designers. The idea was to give Cornerstone a fresh new look for 2006 while making use of new online tools that would benefit members and guests alike. When logging on to the new site, notice the video player on the home page. This video player is a pioneering concept for ministry websites. When you log on, it begins playing what we feel to be our most pertinent ministry information.

Other great features include video on demand through StreamingFaith.com and an online store where CDs, DVDs, and cassette tapes from the ministry of Apostle Dell Young, as well as other valuable ministry resources, can be purchased. The intranet is still under construction, and we hope that it will be completed very soon. When finished, our members will be able to log on to a "Members Only" section of the website with memo boards, departmental calendars, and directories for church members and businesses. These are just a few of the great new features to be found at cornerstoneministry.com.

A wealth of knowledge can be found throughout the cornerstoneministry.com site. There are informative sections on the history of the church, our senior pastors, our staff, our beliefs, our purpose, ministries offered, and current news articles. From our site you can also track Apostle Dell’s itinerary, order our newsletter, learn about upcoming events, print driving directions, or check out the local weather.

We encourage you to stop by and check out our new website. You can learn about where we have been, where we are going, and what we believe. Cornerstone strives to stay on the cutting edge of new technology and utilizes tools that will help further the Gospel of the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ, opening doors for more souls to be saved.

Cornerstone Connection now airing on WALB-TV Channel 10

Apostle Dell Young, senior pastor of Cornerstone Christian Church in Sparks, has recently expanded the ministry's media outreach to include WALB-TV Channel 10 out of Albany, Georgia. Cornerstone Connection airs on Sunday mornings at 7:00 on WALB-TV. The weekly ministry broadcast continues to air on Thursdays at midnight on WVAG-TV Channel 44 and on Sundays at 8:00 a.m. on WGSA-TV Savannah.

Pastor Justin Young, executive pastor of Cornerstone Christian Church, also announced plans to partner with StreamingFaith.com within the next few months. StreamingFaith streams ministry broadcasts over the Internet and includes the ministries of other men and women of God such as Dr. Creflo Dollar, Joyce Meyer, and Bishop Eddie Long. Through partnership with StreamingFaith, Cornerstone will have the capability to air live services.

In addition, Pastor Justin stated that the ministry is also in negotiations with Affiliated Media, a company that represents the television ministries of such ministers as Pastor Joel Osteen and Bishop T.D. Jakes. Cornerstone's partnership with Affiliated Media will allow Cornerstone Connection to be broadcast to an international audience.

Cornerstone Christian Church is a powerful force in the Kingdom of God that is impacting not only this community, but the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Apostle Dell and the Cornerstone family are excited about what the Lord is doing and look forward to the opportunities that await.
